FAQ's

What is a PhotoGiclée?

PhotoGiclée is a standardized process for printing photographs onto canvas. We invented and trademarked the term. Take that, industry. The name itself is an extension of a fine art print process for art reproduction, popularized in the mid-nineties. The Giclée (and the PhotoGiclée) process describes the "highest quality reproduction of imagery on canvas available to the world culture at any given time". Some of the parameters that define PhotoGiclée™ include quality considerations such as pixel to print image integrity, color gamut capability, longevity, and durability. What it means for you, is that you have the power of Harvest Productions at your disposal and you can now get gallery quality canvas printing that was just a year ago only available to serious industry insiders. The future is awesome.

Can I scan an old photo and upload it for printing?

Of course! Capture your photo at the highest resolution setting on your scanner. It also helps to make sure the scanning bed has been recently cleaned and is free of debris and dust, which might get picked up in the image scan. Take a few extra seconds to clean the surface. Your image will thank you later.

Can I send you a photo directly or a photo CD instead of uploading through the site?

We only accept digital files loaded directly through our site. We're not snobs. Not by a long shot. We just want to offer the best possible pricing for the best canvas print in the industry. In order to accomplish that goal, we've kept the process simple, streamlined, and pure digital.

What kind of file types do you accept?

File types allowed: .JPG and .JPEG only. Max file size: 50 MB

What kind of canvas do you use?

That's part of what makes our prints so unique, so it's a difficult question to answer. Let's just say that we do not use an "off the shelf" canvas. Rather, we spent years developing our own private label canvas that we think looks and feels amazing.

Do you offer custom canvas sizes?

We do not offer custom sizing on JONDO.com, we do offer 31 standard sizes that cover all aspect ratios.

Is the canvas protected against UV rays, cracking, etc.?

After the photo on canvas is printed, we coat it with a UV protective layer designed specifically for our canvas and ink. This coating ensures the longevity of the print by protecting the ink from scratches and sunlight.

How long will my canvas print last?

Each PhotoGiclée we print is the equivalent of a fine art print that is rated to last for the life of the owner when cared for properly. Just keep your canvas prints indoors out of direct sunlight and clean them from time to time with a dry cloth. Extreme temperature fluctuations are no good for humans, and no good for canvas prints. When hung in a normal home, they're good to go.

What kind of stretcher bars do you use?

We spent a looooooong time deciding on stretcher bars. In fact, we went through tons of them just trying to find our favorite. That was ten years ago. We could get lost in a big conversation about American Pine, finger jointing, and kiln drying. We could even talk about how our stretcher bars are made using the same manufacturing techniques as wood cabinets. You know, for additional strength. Or, you could trust that we're doing it right. In fact, we're even spline stretching your print so the back of your canvas print looks almost as good as the front. Our competitors wish they could figure out how we do it, but we'll never tell!

What kind of printers and inks do you use?

We use a bevy of different printers with lots of different inks. We spent months getting our color profiling just right. Print nerds know what we're talking about. What it means to you is that your canvas print will look amazing when you take it out of the box. We find that the quality of a print has less to do with hardware, and more to do with our humanware. That is to say, our years of experience are behind every print, not some faceless printer that just does what it's told to do when you push a button.

How do I upload a photo?

When you begin your order you will be prompted to select an image file from your computer. Just be sure to save the image in a normal or easy to find spot. The "Desktop" is always a good place to look for an image. Once you've selected the photo you'd like printed, just click upload and our snazzy software will walk you through the rest of the process.

Will you edit my photo for me?

We keep it lean and mean around here . . . which means we don't offer in-house editing services. We have a fully-automated workflow and manufacturing line. That means we make your prints fast. This allows us to pass on our efficiencies to you in the way of discounted pricing. We're also confident that with free online image editors like Photoshop.com, the power is your hands. Send us a file filled with your own creative touches!

How long does it take to receive my canvas print once I've completed my order?

It takes approximately 3-5 business days to manufacture your canvas print and we offer three speeds of shipping. You can choose Ground (3 – 5 days), 2nd Day (2 days), or Overnight (Next Day). When your order is shipped, you will receive a shipping confirmation email that will include a tracking number.

How can I pay?

We accept all major forms of credit cards.

What do you do with my email if I sign up for your mailing list?

We won't give it away. We won't sell it. We won't send it to the CIA or the FBI. We promise. If you sign up for our mailing list, it just means that we will contact you from time to time with updates about the company. You might even get a sweet coupon for unbelievable discounts. Or, if you want to read all the legal mumbo jumbo, check out our Privacy Policy. Of course, if you get tired of seeing email from us, you can always break up with us by unsubscribing to our list. A "Dear John" letter as it were.

How do I know if my print is being made?

After you've completed your purchase on the website, you will receive an email confirmation with order details. Once you've received that, you can be confident it is in production. You'll receive another follow-up email when the order has shipped. In that second message, tracking details will be included.

I don't like my print. What is your return/refund policy?

JONDO PhotoGiclées are a unique, custom product manufactured to your personal imagery and specifications. Therefore, orders cannot be returned or refunded except for warranty repair/replacements due to failure in manufacturing.

If there is a problem with your order, please send your canvas print(s) back within 30 days of receipt. Refunds are less shipping and handling fees.

We use extra padding and care in our packaging to ensure your prints will arrive safely, but if your shipment arrives damaged, please let us know within 72 hours so we can talk sternly (but fairly) at our shipping provider. Send all returns to us at:

Don't forget to include the original packing information. If you have any questions, just contact us and we'll help you out.

How do I create a mirrored gallery wrap?

Our stretcher bars are 1.25" inches thick, however, we need 1.5" to be certain that no white area shows on the edges of the stretcher bars. In Photoshop, follow the steps below:

Crop the photo to exactly the desired face size.

In the menu bar go to Image, then select Canvas Size. Once the Canvas Size window is open, select the size of the width and add 3" to the face size. For instance, if you have an image that is 16"w X 20"h you will change the size of the canvas to 19"w X 23"h. We prefer to use black as the background, but any color is fine.

You will see that 1.5" of canvas has been added to each side of the width of the canvas in the color you choose.

Select your Rectangular Marquee tool. In the top/middle of the Marquee tool's sub menu click the option "Fixed Size". Set the width for 1.5" and the height for 200" or more inches.

Zoom in as closely as possible to one side of the photo where the border color meets the face of the photograph. Click with your mouse, and make sure that the left side of the Marquee is precisely aligned with the 1.5" of image that is inside of the border.

Copy and Paste that area then select Move Tool and use the left/right arrows to nudge the data so that it meets perfectly to where the face of the image and the colored border meet.

Go to Edit in your menu and select Transform, then "Flip Horizontal". You should now have a perfectly mirrored gallery wrap on one side of the image. Repeat this process for the other side of the width.

Flatten the image in the Layers menu.

Select your Marquee Tool. In the Marquee Tool's menu you will see a box with two apposing arrows. Click this box and your Marquee Tool will switch the width and height.

Repeat the process from above, but instead of using "Flip Horizontal" use "Flip Vertical".

In the Layers menu flatten the image once more and you should have a perfect mirrored gallery wrapped canvas print.

A 16" x 20" image should now measure 19" x 23".

Can I ship internationally?

We currently only ship in the United States. Please stay tuned as we take our business global.
